Britain is steeped in history and legend related to
death, from the headstones in every churchyard and
the plague pits of London to the Necropolis Railway
which ran from Waterloo to Brookwood. Despite this
the United Kingdom does not have a museum to
represent such a heritage.
In fact the interest, and much of the material, to
establish a museum exists. RWA obtained planning
consent in 2002 for the construction of a permanent
base in Beckton encompassing both display space
and facilities for research and education.
Work to turn these ambitions into reality is well
under way, piled foundations have already been
driven, and we hope to be able to commence detailed
design and construction in the very near future.
