An unrealised residential project involving the
redevelopment of an inner city industrial site to
provide housing for sale.
The design retained sections of the flank walls of
existing industrial structures to take advantage of the
footprint, thereby enabling a high density
development without exceeding three storeys in height.
Dwellings of varying types and sizes are arranged
around a landscaped central court overlooked by all
of the flats and houses providing a high level of
security.
Essex Mews is typical of the tight urban sites with
which the practice is often involved in East End
redevelopments.
